The quickest way to give yourself a better business is to solve a more expensive problem for the world. A problem that creates real pain for a specific group of people.

I’ve had to learn how to do this because what I’ve got is not really material suitable for the masses. They aren’t interested in much of what I bring to the table.

So my table doesn’t have many “plates.” Because of that, each one has to be pretty valuable if I’m going to build a business worth having.

I’ve been “doing” the very same things for the past 25 years. Yes, I’ve gotten better, quicker, more effective and deliver more impact in less time…but I’m still using the same building blocks, working with the same tools. My brain, my vision, my pen, my heart.

You have the power, right now, to focus what you do on many different problems that need to be solved.

Which is the right one to choose? That’s the adventure. Answering that question.

It’s smart to pick a problem people want solved. It’s smart to pick a problem that creates a lot of pain. It’s smart to pick a problem that people are already spending money to resolve.

If you can get all THAT, you’re way ahead of the game.

Maybe the Universe has already made this choice clear. If so, you’re lucky! If not, then take your time and make a choice that is deliberate and carefully considered. You can always choose something different.

Just make sure that choice has built into its structure a high-ish probability that your work could return to your life the amount of reward that you want to receive. If that part’s not right, you end up with a hobby or a charity, not a business.

Part of this “problem selection process” is choosing the people you want to serve. Choose the wrong people and you struggle. Choose the right people and life gets a lot easier.

When in doubt, choose better people.

Better people are people who see the value you provide and already KNOW how valuable it could be to them. They don’t need convincing, they just need to see demonstration and proof that you’re real.
