A glowing fingerprint on a dark circular scanner surface with concentric lines

This morning I had a LinkedIn account for about 20 minutes.

I created one for some work I’m doing with a client. About 20 minutes later I was forwarded to a security screen to check some boxes next to pictures of bicycles. After I jumped through that hoop, I was told my account had been temporarily restricted pending identify verification via LinkedIn’s “identity verification provider.”

The request was for me to submit a valid Matrix ID, and possibly take a picture of my face.

My first response was a flash of anger.

And then I started laughing.

After that I thanked the Universe for giving me such a clear sign to stay away from the cesspool. (Amazon KDP uses this same “partner.” What a coincidence!)

Slaves are trained that handing over sensitive information, including biometric data, to a complete stranger is a smart and required thing to do.

It is not.

The smart option is to stop playing. And when that voice in your head gets triggered and starts telling you that “you have to play, everyone does,” you politely walk away. If you want to give it the finger to fully process whatever brief spike of energy passes through your body, I suppose that option is certainly open.

You can stop playing. You can always stop playing. That’s in the fine print they hope you never read.

What happens when everyone stops playing a game that requires willing players in order to have any power? If that’s how the game works, who actually has the power? #Askingforafriend.
