If you can deal with the pain that often comes in the moment, martial arts can teach you an enormous amount about life and business.

When I started training, I thought it was about fighting. And while that’s true, it’s more about moving through life. More accurately, it’s about life moving through YOU.

We spend a lot of time and energy in business trying to make what we want happen. We don’t spend nearly as much time figuring out how to make what happens something we want, something that we can use to reach our goals.

Imagine if that was the case! Imagine if you were able to receive anything and everything that happened in your business as a gift you could use to move closer to what you want!

What martial arts shows you is that this is possible. I watched it happen for over 10 years. This wasn’t a spoken lesson, it was taught by example. No matter what “life” brought to my teacher, whether it was a punch with the left hand or a kick with the foot, he accepted it like opening a gift on Christmas morning and used it to his advantage.

This takes skill. Skill you get from practice.

What’s the practice?

You can start with a question: “How can I use this to my advantage?”

Keep asking until the answers come. Eventually, when this becomes a habit, you don’t even need the question because you will have retrained the way you SEE and PERCEIVE.

This is a different kind of development and growth than the business gurus talk about. I don’t know if they’re not interested in this side of things or if they’ve learned they can’t say they are for fear they will be ostracized. I have no idea.

But this will transform your journey in business (and life!). It will take you away from your attempts to “control” outcomes and allow you the power and grace to accept any outcome and use it to move forward.
